| My friend Kelly turned me on to Cindy
and basically said 'You have to hear her!' I decided to try
it out and popped her CD into my car while journeying through the freeways
and streets on a busy summer afternoon. Immediately I felt a powerful,
fiery spirit rising through my speakers.
WOW. Fire is such an apt word, because it is so there. I love how it works through a refined-raw voice (the term sounds like a contradiction, but listeners will certainly get the idea and enjoy the balance). It just sounds like it's crying out whatever it is she want to express. It works in arrangements that have less pretense than a piece of white typing paper - a paper that burns with simmering emotions that run the gamut. I can tell it's just totally her. "My speakers were especially smiling when the song 'Alive' came through their wires...it has a great compassion and humanity to it (something this world needs a little more of). It's said that music is at it's best when it touches the listener and gives a understanding on who not only the musician is as a person - and what an amazing journey she conveys in this CD - but who the listener is as well. That song, and the whole CD, do the job exquisitely well. "Needless to say, I'm a fan!" - Jay Sorgi, WTMJ

| L.A. Indie Spotlight:
The best music you’ve ever heard. South African Rocker Cindy Alter Shakes Up the Valley By Leslie Waller, Indie Music Reporter Looking for music that comes straight from the heart? Pick up Cindy Alter’s CD, “Dark Heart”. Americans may not know her name, but Cindy Alter has sold millions of CDs in South Africa and Europe. We’re lucky to have her here in the Valley! An introspective obviously strong person, Cindy blows the doors off conventional thinking about rock and roll. One might compare her to Melissa Etheridge or Bonnie Raitt, but that’s still not fully appreciating her powerful stage presence, her rich rock vocal and her captivating delivery of her songs. Listening to Cindy’s music is a celebration of life. So how famous is she? As the leader of the band “Clout”, she played to crowds of over 100,000 in Europe and Africa, selling over ten million albums worldwide, earning gold records. Sarie Awards (South Africa’s Grammy equivalent), and charting to No 1 across Europe and Africa, No 2 in the UK, and entering the US Billboard’s top 100. Her new CD, “Dark Heart”, has driving rhythms with rock, progressive country, and blue grass overtones. This intricate tapestry includes “Shooting Star” about making your mark in the world; “Fall from Grace” about never giving up; “Land of the Free” a stompin’ country anthem; “Pretty Wings” a lament for lost love; “Out of My Mind” a classic rock commentary on senseless violence; “Fall to My Knees” Celtic-flavored treatise on being judged; to the incredibly powerful title track, “Dark Heart”. When asked about the intense messages behind her music, Cindy explains: “The human spirit is powerful, and it will prevail. Solidarity is where it’s at. I write about real issues that we deal with every day: judgment, heartache, fear, our past, our hopes and dreams. My music is about passion and compassion.” Pick up a copy of her CD. You’ll listen to it over and over.
