Cindy Alter and Stewart Irving are without a doubt two of South Africa’s finest performers, Cindy having fronted one of the biggest internationally record selling acts to come from these shores “Clout”, and Stewart Irving coming out one South Africa’s top rock bands Ballyhoo.

Stewart and Cindy have both had solo success, respectively in Los Angeles, and London, and have now returned to South Africa to combine their awe-inspiring talents to form “ALTER IRVING”.

“ We were determined not to go down the road of using backing tracks” says Stewart,” to be true to ourselves and keep it honest we chose to play acoustically” added Cindy, and it’s meant working hard to get our guitar playing tight and up to a standard that we were both happy with, and although we are always improving we are definitely on the same page with our percussive style.

Together with awesome vocal impact “ALTER IRVING” is an act that delivers. In 2007 they opened for “Air Supply”, to massive public acclaim, proving that two voices and two guitars are quite capable of moving an audience deeply. Tom London, MC at the show, was blown away by this duo. Their live performance on Benjy Mudie’s show “Rock of Ages”, brought in tons of callers asking where they could catch the duo Live.

“ALTER IRVING” play a great mix of originals and covers, as well as their hits “Substitute”, “Superstar”,  “Save Me”, and “Heart of Stone”. Their harmonies and acoustic style are incomparable. “ALTER IRVING are in a different class”! The biggest difference is the passion and commitment to their craft. You don’t find that readily, except in artists of the highest order.

Cindy and Stewart are currently working on their first CD together, they’ve both written some great tracks, and have been in the studio with Leon Shaw (Mean Mister Mustard) on drums and back-up vocals. Having just finished production on their Live CD and DVD, Alter Irving are raring to get out there and play. A national tour is being planned for later in the year. You will be lucky to catch this duo “Live and Unplugged”
